Haines is also known as the Alaska of your dreams!  It is a small community that is accessed via either by ferry, the Alaska Marine Highway, airport or road (Haines Highway connected to the Alaska-Canadian Highway)  Haines has approximately 1238 people and is 7.3 square kilometers in size.  Haines is 78 air miles away from Juneau, Alaska and is on the mainland.  Smaller communities can be found near Haines on the Haines Highway.   Air medevacs take advantage of the airport and are usually escorted to the Haines Clinic via the Haines Ambulance.  The Haines Fire Dept. staffs the ambulance with both volunteer and career staff.  When help is needed, the volunteer community rush to assist.
