CCFR patch.gif (17309 bytes) Commercial Structure Fire - Don Abel's

On the morning of July 28, 2001  Capital City Fire/Rescue responded to a report of automatic fire alarms ringing at Don Abel's Building Supply on Industrial Boulevard.   Engine 41, Engine 31, Truck 32, Medic 2 and personnel from the Auke Bay and Glacier Fire Districts responded.  When personnel arrived on scene, there was no sign of fire or smoke.  After a responsible party for the business arrived, access was gained.   After entry, firefighters discovered water on the floor and a light smell of smoke.   An attack team was formed and firefighters found a small fire in the paint locker room of the building.  The store's sprinkler system had contained the fire and firefighters finished extinguishment.  Fire Department officials are continuing there investigation, but evidence is pointing at a trash can as the origin of the fire.   Damage was estimated at less than $1,000.
