On August 15, 2004, Capital City Fire/Rescue was dispatched to a reported structure fire. Engine 11, Truck 12, Medic One, Engine 21, Rescue One and all available volunteers were dispatched. Upon arrival, smoke was scene coming from the walls. An aggressive, offensive attack was initiated. Vertical ventilation revealed an existing roof below the roof found with an approximate 20" void space. The structure was an old building with several extensions and remodels done throughout the years. The roof was found to be spongy and fire was found throughout the void. The call was made by IC to make a trench cut in the roof and go to a defensive attack. Approximately half the building was saved. During the fire, Medic Two, Truck 32 and numerous pages for more volunteers were dispatched.
