On July 7, 2001, Capital City Fire/Rescue's Glacier and Auke Bay District's responded to a reported structure fire at a residence on Mountainwood Circle in the Mendenhall Valley.  On the arrival of the first firefighter, heavy grey smoke was visible.  On the arrival of the first engine, crews made a rapid attack and were able to knock down the fire rather quickly.  There was no one home at the time of the fire, and the Fire Marshal is investigating the exact cause.  Units cleared the scene about an hour and a half after the call was placed.
