On March 21, 2002 Capital City Fire Rescue received a report of a structure fire in a home located on Spruce Street.  Engine 11, Engine 23, Rescue 1, Medic 1, Utility 11 and Fire 5 along with nearly two dozen firefighters responded to the call.  The first attack team located the fire in the attic space of the home.   Due to lack of visibility and intense heat, crews were not able to extinguish the fire from the inside.  Crews gained access from an outside wall and the roof.   The fire is believed to have started by old heat tape.
