On February 9, 2002  Capital City Fire/Rescue's Auke Bay District provided EMS Squad personnel to standby at the Auke Bay Harbor for the University of Alaska Southeast's Annual Polar Bear Plunge.  Approximately 30 people participated in the event with 9 rescue personnel on hand.
