On October 19, 2000  Capital City Fire/Rescue's Rope Rescue Team responded to the East Glacier Trail.  An injured hiker was found about 1 1/2 miles up the trail lying on the ground in wet clothes and was semi-conscious and hypothermic.  Personnel from Capital City Fire/Rescue, Juneau Mountain Rescue, U.S. Forest Service, and the Juneau Police Department responded.  It took rescuers about 1 1/2 hours to get the man down and into a waiting ambulance.
