Most training done by Capital City Fire/Rescue personnel is done at the Hagevig Regional Fire Training Center. The facility was constructed by the State of Alaska in 1978. In 1988, the ownership was transferred to the City and Borough of Juneau, and in 1994 an extensive renovation of the facility was completed. The Training Center Program encompasses the Training Center building and grounds, associated vehicles and equipment, training props, the classroom facilities, and the training library. The program is managed by the Training Captain. A Training Center Advisory Group advises on the operation of the facility.

The Training Center is used both by the City and Borough of Juneau and the State of Alaska. The state provides training for fire personnel on a regional basis, as well as specialized training for other government agencies. The Training Center has special features for marine firefighting training. The State of Alaska, Fire Service Training, has obtained United States Coast Guard certification to conduct marine shipboard firefighting courses. Much of the training offered by both State and the City and Borough of Juneau to other agencies is marine training. The City and Borough of Juneau provides classes in various aspects of marine firefighting to employees of cruise ships while in port in Juneau. The training of personnel outside the fire service is conducted with the fees for these services remaining within the Training Center Program.

Capital City Fire/Rescue is accredited by the State of Alaska to provide classes in Firefighter I and Firefighter II certification. These classes are currently offered to CCF/R members on evenings and weekends in the Spring and Fall. The class takes approximately three and a half months to complete. The Training Center is equipped with live fire capabilities that meet the Firefighter I and Firefighter II certification requirements.

The Training Division will, upon request, coordinate instructors to provide mobilization, demobilization, and/or instruction for classes.  Drills conducted at the Training Center for volunteers from CCF/R's five districts and for the FAA required ARFF drills for the Glacier District career personnel.
